DRSOOS - six steps to organize and optimize your hunting gear
Over the years, I have worked on becoming a better hunter.
And by better, I mean more efficient.
In the process, I've created a framework to help me.
It provides structure. It tells me "what" to do.
But I wanted more (greedy, huh?).
I wanted a greater level of detail. And step by step approaches to implement all the elements of the framework. The "how-to" part.
Long story short, a part of the framework is a set of hunting principles.
And one of those principles is "act fast".
It's the idea that you need to bring the right gear, carry it for easy access and use it confidently. Because you don't know how much time you have to take a shot.
That's all about organization and optimization.
To get there, I considered a broad range of concepts and ideas.
- LEAN Manufacturing,
- input from hunters I respect and
- honest assessments of the mistakes I've made in the past.
- Plus much more.
On that basis, I created a six-step process.
I refer to this as DRSOOS:
- Define
- Record
- Simplify
- Organize
- Optimize
- Standardize
I don't have a cool acronym for it... But hunters that I respect tell me it works.
If you're on a journey to become a better hunter, organizing your gear and optimizing how you use it is a great place to start.
And if you're a stickler for detail or want as much inspiration as possible, this process might be for you.
