RedKettle’s Light Ventile Jacket is designed for rifle shooters and hunters who want a lightweight, breathable and waterproof hunting jacket for use in warmer weather and when on the move.
Constructed from a single layer of natural, fast-drying Ventile fabric with a mesh lining that aids ventilation around the body, the jacket features reinforced forearm, shoulder and chest areas that guarantee durability and offer greater waterproofing where it’s needed most.
The jacket’s practical, fitted design supports fast and accurate rifle mount as well as giving complete freedom of movement when hunting. It also features zips with Hypalon pulls that can be used with a wet or gloved hand, and thoughtfully placed pockets meaning kit is always accessible but shooting positions are not compromised.
The Light Ventile Jacket has been designed specifically for rifle hunting in mild weather conditions and when on the move.
Its hardwearing Ventile fabric is extremely comfortable to wear, while its slim cut ensures swift rifle mount and means there is no surplus cloth to catch or snag. The articulated sleeves and elbows cut with extra space support unrestricted arm movement while the raglan style shoulders and groin-length hem allow complete freedom when covering ground or shooting.
A hood with draw cords around the face and on the crown protects you from the elements and guarantees maximum visibility at all times.
Designed to work as a fully breathable shell, thanks to its air permeability, the Light Ventile Jacket can be worn over your favourite layers to ensure you stay dry and comfortable when hunting.
“We created the RedKettle Light Ventile Jacket to be a natural partner for your hunting adventures in mild weather and on the move. Tested on several demanding rifle hunting trips and on a motorcycle expedition in Patagonia the Light Ventile Jacket has proven itself to be not only waterproof and breathable but also comfortable and practical. We’re very proud of this jacket; we know you’ll be impressed too.” - the folks at RedKettle
Made in Scotland the Light Ventile Jacket is subject to our rigorous quality control procedures. Reliability and strength is provided by seams stitched with workwear grade thread. The articulated arms with extra room at the elbow guarantee ease of movement while the raglan style sleeves adapt easily to differences in body measurements. The jacket also features durable and strong zips, snap buttons and draw cords.
Originally developed in the UK in the Second World War for use in RAF pilots’ immersion suits Ventile fabric is breathable, waterproof, fast drying, and comfortable to wear. Its breathability remains unsurpassed today thanks to the use of premium cotton fibres combined with a dense fabric weave: when exposed to water the fibres expand and create a barrier to water ingress.
The fabric is also air permeable, giving natural breathability instead of relying on chemical processes to transport water vapour and meaning body moisture is quickly wicked away. Ventile is used today in many applications including suits for fighter pilots and firefighters, and clothing for polar explorers.
The size chart measurements are body measurements. Garments will have further allowance for insulating layers.
For example, if your chest measures 100 cm / 40” you should select size Medium.
If you select a Light Ventile Jacket with a slimmer fit you will have room for a base layer and a light mid-layer under the jacket. If you select the Ventile Parka, which has a looser fit, you will have room for a base layer and a heavier mid layer as well as space for trapped air.
Each size (M, L, XL etc.) come in a regular and long size. The two key differences are "height of back" and arm length.
Chest (1): measured during normal breathing whilst standing erect and the tape-measure passed under the armpits and across the chest.
Back height (2): Measured on your back, from where your back of neck meets your shoulders and down to the level of your navel.
Waist (3): measured at natural waistline, between top of hip bone and lower ribs, just around your navel.
Arms (4): tape-measure your straight arm lifted to a horizontal position. Measure from your neck to your wrist bone. Please note, the garment will reach further than your wrist bone, this point is only used as reference for sizing.
